Greece security guard stabbed at Water Street Music Hall

A Greece man, who works as a security officer at Water Street Music Hall, was stabbed in the stomach with a knife around 1:30 Saturday morning.

DeMario J. Washington, 35 of Buffalo, is charged with second-degree assault.

Police say 29-year-old Joshua VanDervoort was escorting a group out after a fight inside the club. Police say the group was unhappy and not wanting to leave. As the group was being led out, police say Washington stabbed the victim in the stomach.

Washington was taken into custody by other security personnel. VanDervoort suffered non-life threatening injuries and has since been discharged from Strong Hospital.
